Serving the Homeless in Broward
As Messengers of Hope, we're called to make an impact in the world around us, and one of the greater felt needs here in Broward County is homelessness. • 2 percent are children under 18.
  • 5 % are 18-24 years old.
  • 3% are over the age of 24.
  • People who are at risk of becoming homeless are people with medical problems including mental health issues who have no income and family support (32 %).
  • People released from prison/jail (18%)
  • People who are living in hotels and motels (15%)
  • And people who are experiencing financial hardships and are faced with imminent eviction (14 %). Loss of job income (59 %) and medical issues (10%) are the top two reasons why people end up homeless.

Blanket Drive

Our blanket distribution last Tuesday where 332 blankets were collected from FTL, CS, & Sunrise campuses and 428 plates of food were served to the homeless!

We are cautioned to not grow weary of doing good things. Many great folks have been with us on this project from the very beginning! Some have provided financial support, in-kind support, moral support and more importantly time. On the day of the drive, some of the team worked anywhere between 4 to 16 hours.

We are extremely grateful to the leaders and volunteers of our Outreach Ministry who were able to bless this ministry one way or another. We were able to feed 428 people in four locations. While the food and the blankets were a blessing to them, they however received a greater gift from us, which is seeing the love of Christ and others in us. Next year is upon us already and by God’s grace, we will multiply the number of people who were served in 2017!

Prayer for Las Vegas

Once again we are shaken as a nation with the atrocities that have taken place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We are praying for healing for those critically wounded and for the family members of those who have lost loved ones. As a Church, we stand in prayer of intercession for the state of our nation in its spiritual and moral depravity. Yet we believe in a God who still heals, redeems and restores to the utmost.

Lord, cause your presence, your hope, your love and your power to penetrate our nation. May the Light of your Truth not be hidden or dimmed in these days but set it ablaze with increasing power and demonstration. Starting in us, cause your Light to pierce and continue to transform hearts of mankind for your glory. Amen.

Natural Disaster Relief

God has given us a mandate to do what we can to help those around us in need. As a way of providing relief to those affected by recent natural disasters, we’ve partnered together with Convoy of Hope. Here’s a quick recap of what we’re doing to help provide support.

Here’s an update from Convoy of Hope President, Hal Donaldson, from a recent trip to Puerto Rico. Thank you CLC Family for being Kingdom Builders and for helping COH spread hope to hurricane survivors.

How to Help

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.”

Nahum 1:7

Pray

Let’s pray and lift up those around the world who have been affected by natural disasters. While they may be in a day of trouble, we pray that God would protect, provide and keep them in His love.

Give

If you’d like to provide financial support towards Convoy of Hope’s Hurricane Relief, you can do so at clcftl.org/give. Please make sure to designate your gift with the keyword “COH.”

Send

We are collecting canned goods, water, & medical supplies to send to Puerto Rico and the Islands. Please bring your donations to our Fort Lauderdale campus next Wednesday 10/4 & Sunday 10/8.

Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey has caused catastrophic flooding across Southeast Texas. Christian Life Center is responding by partnering with Convoy of Hope to bring aid to the many who have been impacted by the hurricane. The COH team is operating their distribution site from a 9,000-square-foot tent in Victoria, Texas, and have set up a drive-through point of distribution. They have begun distributing food, water, and hygiene items as tens of thousands of people are without power and water and could be for several days. They are also distributing product to families in Aransas Pass and Ingleside. They will continue to operate from Victoria in the coming days and will move eastward into Houston when authorities allow safe passage of their vehicles.

If you would like to give toward the relief efforts in Texas, you may give on our website (clcftl.org) by going to the top of the page and click on give. Please put Harvey as the description. You may also give by texting Harvey with your giving amount (ex: Harvey $50) to 954-903-4379. You will also have an opportunity to give in our upcoming services.

Let’s continue to pray for God’s peace, guidance and grace to undergird and grant relief to the many in Southeast Texas who have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey! #clcftl #ImpactingOurWorld

Charlottesville

With grieving hearts and deep concern, we watch. We watch as images of anger, fear, racism, and hate fill our screens. We watch as protesters march and counter-protestors respond. We watch as death and tragedy seemingly become more commonplace than ever before.

We watch, but we cannot be silent.

We draft this statement with the firm belief that we are all made in the image of God, regardless of color or ethnicity. We affirm that racism, bigotry, and hatred do not reflect, in any way, the character of Jesus Christ. We stand united to boldly condemn white supremacy and all ideals that promote hate.

The events of the past week in Charlottesville, VA have reminded us that though our country may be divided, the Church of Jesus Christ must stand united. United against voices that seek to elevate one group over an other. United against those who seek to dehumanize others. United against racism in any and all forms. United to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Our faith in Jesus Christ compels us to act – to seek justice and to love mercy. The Parable of the Good Samaritan laid out in Luke 10, speaks to our duty to look after the welfare of all those we encounter. As Church United, we pray that the love of Christ would shine through the Churches of our communities in new and unprecedented ways. We pray that the love found in Jesus Christ would stir our hearts towards justice — towards a time where racism, hatred, and evil are no more.

Together with one voice,

Church United South Florida.
